Stretching To Help Relieve Back Pain

There are some simple things we can do everyday to help prevent back pain. One of those things is stretching out on a daily basis.  By stretching out, the blood flow throughout the body is improved and the muscles are more flexible.  if you are experiencing back pain, try stretching out daily, preferably several times throughout the day.

There are many stretches you can do to help relieve back pain, but the ones below are the most common stretches for the back.

Touching Your Toes

Out of the whole body parts, the hamstrings are generally the tightest part of the body.  A tight hamstrings will contribute to lower back pain.  To help release the tightness of the hamstrings, try reaching your toes on a daily basis.  When reaching your toes, don’t lock the knees in a straight position, but rather keep them soft so you won’t injure yourself.

Side Reaches

This stretch will help release the tightness on the side of your body.  You can do this stretch sitting down or standing up.  Once in position, try to reach your arms up and over your head, and slightly lean to the side without turning the body.  Do this stretch several times throughout the day or when you feel tightness on your side.

Doing stretches everyday is a good way to help prevent back pain and help the blood move throughout the body more efficiently. If you do a lot of sitting, try getting up and stretching every two hours or so.  This will help relieve tension around your back which will help prevent back pain.  Stretches are great for back pain and it should be performed on a daily basis.
